A Letter From Lenya: September 2017

While terrorists fell towers and bullets threaten babies, our army rises. While political differences tear families apart and guerilla warfare creates orphans, our movement is growing. And while innocent men, women, and children are subjected to senseless acts of violence, our soldiers march. We are so thankful for you.
In our May newsletter, we told you about our visit to Qaraqosh, a town in Iraq. As the largest predominantly Christian city in Iraq, Qaraqosh was home to many beautiful churches and historical monasteries until 2014, when ISIS scourged their way through northern Iraq. A city of beauty soon became a city of ruins, with many families fleeing for their lives.
We are thrilled to announce that we have the opportunity to bring
joy to the children and support to their parents and grandparents
by building playgrounds in Qaraqosh as beacons of hope and new beginnings. The people of Qaraqosh are known for their faith and
have a history of rebuilding; however, many are now unsure and discouraged. Their homes, shops, schools, and church buildings have been destroyed. But even in the face of devastation and uncertainty, church bells ring once again and crosses have been re-hung, signifying that God is still on the throne and in control of their lives.
Help rally around the people of Qaraqosh by offering prayers and support to help us take the first steps to rebuild their children’s future. We’ve raised $18,000 so far, but we still need $36,000. We have enclosed an envelope for you to make a donation of any size: $10, $20, $100, $500, $1,000—every dollar counts. One small action can make an enormous difference in the lives of these children. Our prayer is that they experience God’s faithfulness and that their faith is strengthened. We want them to believe that He hears their every cry and plans to give them a future filled with hope.
